+ I want an image for media use

  • In this case we recommend a natural color (RGB) image.
  • You can choose from the image archive or order any other product as a new image collection directly from the satellite. When ordering it is advised to request an image with DRA on; 8-bit; and natural color. Alternatively you can complete the Media Order Form where we have done all the hard work for you, and you only need to supply your AOI and Catalog Id.
  • Remember all media products need to show the correct European Space Imaging copyright information and must adhere to media licensing agreement. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further information.

+ What details can I see in an image?

  • We offer Very High-Resolution (VHR) products having a resolution between 31 cm and 1 meter.
  • Depending on the sensor, one (1) pixel can represent a 31 cm x 31 cm area on earth meaning you can see objects and other details
  • The resolution of an image is also referred to as the Ground Sample Distance (GSD).

+ I want to share the product among several parties

  • We offer different license levels for different kinds of user groups.
  • Level of license is defined by number of users and intended use.
  • Please contact our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. team for more information.

+ I want to monitor a location

  • Our FirstLook product may be what you are looking for.
  • But if this doesn’t meet your requirements you can also schedule regular image and video acquisitions and use them with any of the products we offer.
  • To know how regularly you can collect an image over a site contact the This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. team.

+ I want an image taken on a specific date

  • When searching for imagery collected during a specific time period please use our online, easy to use, ImageFinder tool.
  • Alternatively you can order any other product as a new image collection directly from the satellite in a required time-frame or on a specific date.
  • Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for order requests or use our online order request form.

+ I want an image to use in my application

  • Yes, all our imagery products function in any application. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to specify your needs.

+ I want an image to use in my flight simulator software

  • Yes, all our imagery products can be used in any flight simulator software application. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to specify your needs.

+ I need new image capture of my area

  • Yes, European Space Imaging can schedule and task a variety of satellites for new image captures over your area.

+ I want to define my own Area of Interest (AOI)

  • Our products are tailor-made and we accept your self-created AOIs.
  • We also accept geographical coordinates (lat/lon), kmz file or ESRI shapefiles.
  • To see how to create KML files in Google Earth we have made a short tutorial video.
  • Otherwise you can download the information sheet Area-of-Interest Guidelines.

+ I want to create a zoom in/zoom out animation from an image

  • Very High-Resolution (VHR) satellite imagery can be incorporated in animation applications where a digital zoom can be applied from your end.
  • The image itself comes in one resolution which means you need to create your own zooming scales.

+ I want to create a map based on a satellite image

  • All our imagery products can be used to create a map. Depending on your project requirements This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. can advise the most suitable approach.

+ I want an image taken at night

  • We can offer most things but not this.
  • VHR satellites only collect images during daylight hours, so we cannot supply night images.

+ I want a value-added product

  • Through our global technology partnerships and collaborations we can put you in contact with the right team to create your value-added products.
  • Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let us know your requirements and we can help you make it happen.

+ How much does satellite imagery cost?

  • For a quote for your specific Area-of-Interest (AOI) please contact our Customer Support team who can let you know the price of the imagery and/or the number of scenes required to cover the area.
  • To define your AOI you can follow our online guidelines an Area-of-Interest Guidelines (AOI) or watch the on online tutorial video .

+ Are the satellites capturing all the time?

  • No, High-resolution satellites capture at an on-demand basis meaning that they can be scheduled independently to image specific geo-locations as required.

+ Can I get live satellite images?

  • No, the optical satellites we use are in a set 'sun-synchronous' polar orbit.
  • The satellites collect imagery as they pass the Area-of-Interest (AOI) and then download the data to a ground station.
  • We then process the imagery before delivery to the customer.

+ Does weather/cloud affect the imagery?

  • Cloud affects optical satellite imagery.
  • European Space Imaging has a reputation for collecting almost cloud-free optical imagery due to their hands-on satellite tasking minutes before fly-over.

+ Can you supply imagery anywhere in the world?

  • Yes, we can supply global imagery. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to request information or a feasibility report.

+What is the difference between imagery from European Space Imaging and Google Earth?

  • Google Earth is responsible for bringing satellite imagery to the people and making it very accessible for home users.
  • However, when looking to use imagery for any commercial purpose, where you may need know accuracy, date of capture and resolution, so imagery purchased from European Space Imaging is advised.
  • It also comes with expert personalized customer support.

+ I want to use an image for educational, research or development purpose

  • We supply imagery for all sorts of projects. Please contact Please contact our This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. team for more information and conditions.

+ What is a feasibility report?

  • A feasibility report is an estimate which indicates a proposed capture period based on the historic cloud cover and other known factors.

+ In what format will my imagery be delivered?

  • Imagery is delivered as TIFF and geo TIFF which can be displayed in geo-information programs as well as other image programs.

+ How will my imagery be delivered?

  • We generally deliver imagery over a secured FTP but can deliver it in other common digital formats if required.

+ Can I get a dedicated contact person to help me with my project questions?

  • Yes, we provide personalized support via telephone or email with a dedicated contact person for each customer.
  • Your contact person will help you with all your imagery needs throughout the life of your project.

+ Can you provide Digital Elevation Models (DEM)?

+ What is geo-rectification?

  • Geo-recification is the process of removing the effects of image perspective (tilt) and relief (terrain) effects for the purpose of creating a planimetrically correct image.
  • It is rectified to a general world grid and simple terrain model.
  • The information is contained in the data but not visible to the eye.

+ What is orthorectification?

  • Orthorectification is a step above a geo-rectified image based on very accurate geo-referencing and terrain modeling.
  • Orthorectification is the process of removing the effects of image perspective (tilt) and relief (terrain) effects for the purpose of creating a planimetrically correct image. The resultant orthorectified image has a constant scale wherein features are represented in their 'true' positions.
  • This allows for the accurate direct measurement of distances, angles, and areas (i.e. mensuration).
  • The requisite inputs for orthorectification are an image with accurate sensor geometry and an elevation model of the ground surface in DEM, DTED, or SRTM format
  • The resulting accuracy of the orthoimage is based on the accuracy of the triangulation, the resolution of the source image, and the accuracy of the elevation model.
  • Orthorectification is necessary for any image which will be used in any mapping application.
